Tehran’s forex market was calm Wednesday with most currencies posting slight changes. The dollar was sold at 248,700 rials in the free market down 500 rials or 0.21% compared to the previous day's close.
Melli Exchange and other moneychangers affiliated to banks quoted the currency at 236,360 rials, which was 210 rials or 0.09% lower than Tuesday, Eghtesad News website reported.
The greenback bough 238,900 rials at CBI's regulated market on Wednesday, up 0.3% or 720 rials, compared to day before. The regulated market is a network of banks and certified moneychangers working under CBI supervision who deal in wholesale trade.
The euro gained 0.04% or 130 rials and was worth 297,870 rials in the free market. Bank-affiliated exchange shops demanded 278,580 rials for the European currency 0.21% lower than Tuesday. UAE’s dirham was up 0.29% to finish the day at 68,600 rials.
Traders seem to be exercising extra caution amid uncertainty in the financial market because of political and other developments in the region.
Gold coin prices were mostly in upbeat mode on Wednesday posting slight increase and paring previous losses. Emami gold coin gained 0.85% or 900,000 rials to finish the day at 10.53 million rials.
The half Bahar Azadi gold coin was priced at 62.5 million rials, almost half a million or 0.8% higher compared to previous day. Quarter Bahar Azadi gold coin remained unchanged at 39 million rials.
