Tehran Province Registers Lowest Monthly Inflation

The overall CPI, using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year, stood at 275 in the eighth fiscal month, indicating a 5.2% rise compared with the previous month. For Tehran Province, the monthly inflation was at 3.2%

The growth in overall Consumer Price Index in the eighth month of the current Iranian year (Oct. 22-Nov. 20), was the lowest (3.2%) in Tehran Province compared with the month before.

This comes as, according to data released by the Statistical Center of Iran, Ilam Province posted the highest month-on-month inflation of 8.8%. 

The overall CPI, using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year, stood at 275 in the period, indicating a 5.2% rise compared with the previous month.  

Kermanshah Province’s goods and services consumer inflation registered a rise of 54.5% compared with the similar month of the year before, the highest among all provinces. 

The year-on-year CPI growth was the lowest for Qom with 42.9%, compared with that of other Iranian provinces. 

The overall goods and services CPI in Iran registered a year-on-year increase of 46.4% in the same month. 

The average goods and services CPI in Iran for the 12-month period ending Nov. 20 increased by 29% compared with last year’s corresponding period. 

Hormozgan saw the highest average annual inflation with 34.2% while West Azarbaijan posted the lowest of 25.4%. 

 

 

Urban Households 

The overall CPI calculated for urban areas stood at 272.6 during the eighth month of the current Iranian year, indicating a 4.7% rise compared with the previous month. 

The growth in CPI measured for provincial urban households compared with the previous month was the highest (7.8%) for Ilam while Tehran Province recorded the lowest monthly inflation growth of 3.1% compared with other provinces. 

The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 45.7% for urban areas. 

Goods and services CPI of Kermanshah’s urban areas registered a year-on-year rise of 53.9% during the month under review, the highest among all provinces. 

The CPI increase in urban areas was the lowest for Mazandaran with 42.1% YOY.

The average CPI in urban areas for the 12-month period ending Nov. 20 increased by 29% compared with last year’s corresponding period. 

Households living in the urban areas of Hormozgan saw the highest annual inflation (33.9%) while those of West Azarbaijan and Khorasan Razavi witnessed the lowest annual inflation (25.4%) among all Iranian provinces. 

 

 

Rural Households

The overall CPI calculated for rural areas stood at 288.6 in the month under review, which indicates a 7.6% increase compared with the previous month. 

The growth in CPI of rural households compared with the previous month was highest for Ilam with 13.7%. This is while rural households living in Sistan-Baluchestan Province saw a 4.2% increase in the prices of goods and services compared with the month before, the lowest rate compared with other provinces. 

The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 50.3% for rural areas in the same month. CPI of Bushehr’s rural areas registered a YOY increase of 60.4% during the eighth month of the Iranian year, the highest among all provinces, whereas the year-on-year CPI increase was the lowest for Tehran with 41.8% compared with other provincial rural areas. 

The goods and services CPI of rural areas in the 12-month period increased by 28.8% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Hormozgan registered the highest annual inflation in rural areas (34.8%) while Khuzestan posted the lowest annual inflation (23.9%).

 

 

Tehran Province Performance

The average goods and services CPI in the 12-month period ending Nov. 20 for Tehran Province, wherein lies the capital city, increased by 31.3% compared with the corresponding period of last year.

SCI had put Tehran’s average annual inflation rate for the preceding Iranian month, which ended on Oct. 21, at 30%. 

The consumer inflation for the month under review (Oct. 22-Nov. 20) registered an increase of 43.3% compared with the similar month of the previous Iranian year. 

The year-on-year inflation of the month ending Oct. 21 was 41.2%. 

The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) of Tehran Province stood at 278.2 in Aban, indicating a 3.2% rise compared with the month before. Month-on-month consumer inflation was at 6.1% for the preceding month (Sept. 22-Oct. 21.)

SCI put urban and rural areas of Tehran Province’s average annual inflation at 31.4% and 30.8%, respectively. 

CPI registered a year-on-year increase of 43.4% for urban areas and 41.8% for rural areas in the month ending Nov. 20. 

The overall CPI reached 278.2 for urban households and 278.6 for rural households, indicating a month-on-month increase of 3.1% and 4.8% for urban and rural areas, respectively.
