With a total of 1.83 million tons of exports in the last Iranian year that ended on March 19, 2020, and 158,920 tons in the 12th month (Feb. 20-March 19), Khouzestan Steel Company was Iran's biggest exporter.
The mill experienced a year-on-year decline of 16% in exports during the year and 13% in the 12th month under review, latest data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization show.
Mobarakeh Steel Company, located in Isfahan, was the second biggest exporter of the year as it shipped 1.45 million tons of products, up 65% compared with last year's corresponding period.
The company is the largest steelmaker in the Middle East and North Africa region and one of the largest industrial complexes operating in Iran.
During the 12th month, MSC exported 87,260 tons, to register an 8% decline YOY.
Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO) came third, as it exported 1.15 million tons during the year, up 28% compared with last year's corresponding period.
During the month to March 19, ESCO exported 88,463 tons to register a YOY decrease of 3%.
Most of the other producers registered growth during the period under review.
South Kaveh Steel Company exported 662,680 tons of billets, up 25% YOY. The company also exported 69,210 tons of direct-reduced iron in the 12 months, up 60% YOY.
Hormozgan Steel Company exported 815,411 tons of slabs, up 40% YOY.

Chadormalou Mining and Industrial Company exported 365,102 tons of billets during the year.
Khorasan Steel Company shipped out 222,264 tons of bloom, indicating a 72% growth YOY. In addition, the company exported 12,799 tons of rebar, down 7% YOY.
Saba Steel Company exported 146,794 tons of hot briquettes, up 393% YOY.
Iran Alloy Steel Company shipped 59,949 tons of rebar, up 52% YOY.
Bonab Steel Company exported 32,048 tons of rebar, up 1,894% YOY, while the company exported 449 tons of “other products” during the period, up by 373% YOY.
From the 12th month’s perspective, the highest growth was registered by Khorasan Steel Company as the steel mill exported 129 tons of rebars during the month, up by 416% YOY.
The above steelmakers, considered major producers in Iran, exported a total of about 7.03 million tons during the year under review to register a year-on-year growth of 27%.
They shipped 520,555 tons during the 12th month of the year, which shows a 14% increase compared with the same month of the year before.
The IMIDRO report will be followed by a more comprehensive one by Iran Steel Producers Association, which also includes data for small-scale steel mills.
The heavyweight steelmakers exported 5.54 million tons of steel during the fiscal 2018-19 to register a year-on-year decline of 25%.
With a total of 2.18 million tons of exports, Khouzestan Steel Company was also Iran's biggest steel exporter in that year.
According to World Steel Association's latest data, Iran is currently the ninth biggest steel producer in the world, as it produced 5.6 million tons of crude steel during January-February 2020, up 40.5% compared with the corresponding period of 2019`.
The country is aggressively pursuing the target of becoming the world’s sixth largest steel producer as per the 20-Year Vision Plan, which targets annual production capacity expansion to 55 million tons and 20-25 million tons of exports per year by 2025.
Iranian steel mills have so far realized about 34 million tons of the capacity target.
Iranian steel mills sold over 254.35 trillion rials ($1.58 billion) worth of steel products during the last Iranian year.
According to Reza Shahrestani, a member of the Board of Directors of Iran Steel Producers Association, the sales volume shows a 93% rise compared to the year before.
