More than 3.38 quadrillion rials ($21.17 billion) worth of investments are estimated to have been made in industrial units with establishment permits, while 551.76 trillion rials ($3.44 million) were invested in projects with operating license during the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2019-Feb. 19).
The above-mentioned investment volumes show an increase of 25.3% and a decline of 1.2% respectively compared with the similar period of last year, the latest report released by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade shows.
Establishment Permits
A total of 25,456 establishment permits were issued over the 11 months under review, registering an 18.8% growth year-on-year. These projects are expected to create 574,175 jobs, which are 17% more compared with last year's corresponding period.
Yazd Province with 2,639, Khorasan Razavi Province with 2,221 and Semnan Province with 2,078 had the largest share of establishment permits issued during the period.
Ilam Province, with more than 237,920 trillion rials (over $1.48 billion) worth of estimated investments for 160 establishment permits, attracted the highest amount of investments.
The number of establishment permits issued for industrial units located in free trade and special economic zones decreased by 23.5% to 270. Over 636,87 trillion rials ($3.98 million) worth of investments are estimated to be made in these projects to generate 15,297 jobs, registering a 57.4% rise and 6.5% fall YOY respectively.
The field of food and beverage saw the highest number of establishment permits (3,025) to create the largest number of jobs among other fields (70,454).
The highest amount of investment in these units is expected to be made in projects related to the production of chemicals with 839,440 trillion rials ($5.24 billion).
The volume accounts for 24.8% of all investments made in projects with establishment permits during the period.
Operating Licenses
A total of 5,892 operating licenses were issued during the period under review, which shows a 6.5% growth YOY. These projects are expected to create 93,795 jobs, 1.6% less compared with last year's corresponding period.
Isfahan Province with 524, East Azarbaijan Province with 494 and Tehran Province with 408 had the biggest share of all operating licenses issued during the 11 months.
Tehran Province, with more than 79.92 trillion rials ($499.55 million), attracted the highest volume of investments in projects with operating licenses. This accounted for 14.5% of all the investments made in projects with operating licenses.
The number of operating licenses issued for industrial projects located in free trade and special economic zones stood at 344, indicating a 20.3% growth YOY.
More than 32.1 trillion rials ($200.63 million) worth of investments were made in these projects to create 9,007 jobs, registering a 16.4% and 22.8% growth respectively YOY.
The field of food and beverage saw the highest number of operating licenses, namely 812.
The highest volume of investments in this regard were also made in projects related to food and beverage production with close to 95.43 trillion rials ($596.47 million), accounting for 17.3% of all investments made in industrial units with operating licenses. The same field created the highest number of jobs (13,970) over the period.
The number of greenfield projects for which operating licenses were issued stood at 3,036, some 203 of which were for those located in free trade and special economic zones.
The remaining 2,856 permits were issued for the operation of brownfield projects, 141 of which were located in FTZs and special economic zones.
