New Chairwoman for Iran National Carpet Center

Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Reza Rahmani has appointed Farahnaz Rafe as the new chairwoman of Iran National Carpet Center.

She replaces Fereshteh Dastpak who has been the head of INCC since May 2018, ILNA reported.

Latest data show $30 million worth of hand-woven carpets were exported from Iran during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Oct. 22).

The US sanctions have dealt a blow to Iran's once hugely lucrative carpet exports that used to earn the country hundreds of millions of dollars annually before the imposition of sanctions.

The UAE, China, Germany and South American nations are currently the main customers of Iranian hand-woven carpets.
