After two weeks of non-stop rally Tehran Stock Exchange entered a correction phase on Wednesday as giant commodity stocks retreated and small-cap companies advanced.
TSE's main index TEDPIX shed 1,170.93 points, or 0.32%, for the day to close trading week at 361,088.4.
Unlike TEDPIX, which gives more weight to high-cap companies, the equal-weighted index ended in the green, indicating upbeat performance of small stocks.
The equal-weighted index, which gives the same weight to all stock regardless of their size and value, was up 0.60% for the day.
About 4.2 billion shares valued at 23.89 trillion rials ($184.5 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.
Trading at TSE and over-the-counter Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.
Neyriz White Cement Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5% to 37,277 rials per share.
Shahroud Sugar Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 5% to 25,442 rials per share.
Mobarakeh Steel Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company and Mines and Metals Development Investment Company.
Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by SAIPA Automaker Company, Jam Polypropylene Company and MAPNA Group.
IFX Flat
Iran Fara Bourse main index IFX lost 3.88 points or 0.08% to close Wednesday trade at 4,662.59.
About 1.59 securities valued at 11.95 trillion rials ($92.32 million) were traded at the over-the-counter exchange for the day.
Esfahan Steel Company had the highest number of traded shares as 173.23 million of its shares valued at 373.33 billion rials ($2.88 million) were traded.
Goharzamin Iron Ore Company, Marun Petrochemical Complex, Zagros Petrochemical Company and Hormozgan Steel Company had the most negative impact on IFX.
Kowsar Insurance Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Iran Office Machines Industries Company, Middle East Mines and Mineral Industries Development Holding Company and Kerman Development and Investment Company.
