The second conference on Methods to Increase Shelf Life of Food Products (Technofood 2017) is to be held February 27-28 at Tehran’s Eyvan Shams Hall.

“The congress is in cooperation with Tehran Municipality, and several state bodies,” said Dr. Mohammad Hossein Azizi, head of the Iranian Food Science and Technology Association, according to a press release. The event aims to encourage specialists in the field to present appropriate solutions for increasing the shelf life of food products, active packaging, good manufacturing practice, use of natural ingredients and reduced-additive foods.

It also seeks to utilize experience of experts and professionals in science and the food industry for more accurate evaluation in the current methods of packing and preserving. The conference will introduce natural substitutes and advanced technology to reduce additives and preservatives, and prepare Iranian companies in the food industry for boosting capacity in production of foodstuff with longer shelf life without the use of harmful additives.
