The inaccuracy of weather forecasts also has personal implications for people around the world, leaving them stranded without umbrellas, snowed in, or stuck in airports.
“Several factors are involved in wrong weather forecasts and only one is the meteorologists’ flaw,” head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Meteorological Organization (IRIMO), Davood Parhizgar, said while explaining about the causes of inaccuracy in weather predictions.
“Meteorological knowledge is also highly dependent on information technology and if we fail to employ it, it will weaken our performance,” Alef News Agency quoted him as saying. There is always a small chance of forecast error in all meteorological centers around the world; “however we recognize the need to work harder and smarter to produce better forecasts and to better communicate weather predictions,” he added.
