As per a project introduced by the Ministry of Health and Traffic Police, ‘traffic safety’ is to be added to the academic curriculum in universities.
The project was initially announced in 2012. The intention is to educate students about the need and significance of road safety and increase their adherence to traffic rules, ISNA reported.
To this end, a three-day teacher training program on the subject was held at the Tabriz University of Medical Science in East Azarbaijan Province earlier this week.
"So far, three sessions of teacher training courses have been held to prepare instructors," a faculty member at the university, Mohammad Sa'adati, said.
The training session was attended by officers from the Traffic Police department.
In the previous academic year that ended in June 2018, a book on traffic safety was given to students at Tabriz University of Medical Science.
The project envisages adding the content as a general course to the curriculum of all universities in the country.
