Iran Khodro started producing a new version of the Peugeot 207 hatchback, refitted by the local firm as a sedan along with an upgraded Dena+ which is equipped with a turbocharger.
The news was reported on the Industries Ministry website. The Peugeot 207 automatic sedan is a mishmash of the Peugeot 206 sedan and the 207i hatchback. The company is yet to announce a price for the 207 sedan but it is estimated to be in the region of 600 million rials ($12,000). The new version of Dena+ is equipped with a turbocharger and a stronger engine compared to its predecessor. IKCO has not announced how much the upgraded version would cost but it is expected to be 20-30 million rials higher than the normal version. The older version sells for 460 million rials.
Minister of Industries Mohammad Shariatmadari and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani were present at the launching ceremony.
