A new Persian edition of ‘Adventures of Pinocchio,’ translated by acclaimed theater director and translator Behrouz Gharibpour, pioneer of traditional puppet show in Iran, will be unveiled Sunday in Tehran.

The Persian translation of the world-renowned fairy tale novel by Italian author and journalist Carlo Collodi (1826-1890) will be unveiled at a ceremony at Ofoq Bookshop owned by Ofoq Publishing House that is releasing the book.

Gharibpour will be present at the ceremony and sign the book which is translated into Persian from original Italian edition. It is adorned with illustrations created by Italian illustrator Roberto Innocenti, 77, Honaronline reported.

Ofoq Bookstore is located on Enqelab Avenue, on the corner of Osku Street near University of Tehran.

Gharibpour, 68, studied theater at University of Tehran and at Dramatic Arts Academy in Rome. He founded puppet theater centers in Tehran and Isfahan. He is a veteran in writing and directing theater, puppet theater, movies, documentaries and TV series. He is also respected for his research on Iranian puppetry as was commonly practiced during the Qajar era (1785-1925).
