Tehran Denies Joint Production of Warship with Russia

Iran’s defense minister dismissed “baseless” media stories about the joint production of warships with Russia, but did not rule out cooperation in the research process.
“In what we produce ourselves, such as fighter jets and destroyers, we rarely resort to other countries,” Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani told reporters on the sidelines of a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, ISNA reported.
The minister added, however, that Iran may take advantage of Russia’s know-how to sort out a series of problems in the research process.
He stressed that Tehran and Moscow have “strategic” relations and are cooperating in various sectors.
Iran’s military cooperation with Russia has been a source of controversy, with Western powers accusing Tehran of supplying Moscow with arms in its war on Ukraine.
Iran dismisses the allegations, although confirming that a limited number of drones had been delivered to Moscow months before the onset of the war.
The Islamic Republic emphasizes that the Ukraine conflict has to be addressed through political dialogue.
