Seyyed Jalal Hosseini’s goal against Qatar’s Al Duhail in the second leg of the AFC Champions League was selected as the best goal of the round by public vote on the official site of the Asian Football Confederation.

As per the results released on the AFC website Saturday, the goal scored by Persepolis defender won the one-sided battle with more than 44,000 votes - equaling 61% - from almost 74,000 votes cast by the public.

Persepolis’s third goal against Al Duhail, scored by Nigerian striker Godwin Mensha won almost 28,000 votes as the second best goal.

Hosseini’s goal set the Reds on the comeback road as the first goal of the team at Azadi Stadium of Tehran. After an own goal by Qatari side, Mensha got the ball in the middle of the pitch to twist two defenders and pass the keeper with a dribble and seal the third goal for his team and secure a semifinal match against Qatar’s Al Sadd.

This is Persepolis’s second consecutive appearance in the semis of the AFC Champions League.

On October 2, the Reds will hold their first leg game of the semis at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium of Doha against Al Sadd and will host the Qatari side in Azadi on October 23.

In their last two head-to-head games during the group stage matches, Persepolis suffered a 3-1 loss in Qatar and clinched a 1-0 victory at the sprawling Azad Stadium in west Tehran.
