1st Muslim Women Summit Awards Samii

The honorary award of the First World Muslim Women Summit and Exhibition in Malaysia was conferred on world-famous neurologist Professor Majid Samii.

Iran’s Ambassador to Malaysia Marzieh Afkham received the award on behalf of Samii who was conferred the award for his contributions to science as founder and head of the International Institute for Brain and Nervous System Studies.  Turkish researcher Tuba Nur Sonmez was also presented the “Outstanding Woman Achievement” Award. The three-day event was held in cooperation with the World Islamic Forum, International Islamic University of Malaysia, and several Malaysian ministries September 23-25 in Kuala Lumpur. It brought together over 200 experts, men and women, from Muslim and non-Muslim states to help empower women and strengthen unity among them and promote their role in the world. The second World Muslim Women Summit is slated to be held in Turkey next year, IRNA reports.
