Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warned of plots by hostile powers that have targeted the Islamic Republic’s economic efficiency to undermine its legitimacy.
“The enemy is seeking to hurt the people’s financial wellbeing and, ultimately, create public dissatisfaction with Islam and the Islamic system,” the Leader’s official website quoted him as saying on Tuesday.
“Under the circumstances, the government, Majlis and officials in various sectors as well as the masses are bound to help make plans and act against the enemy’s goal,” he added.
He issued the warning in a meeting with people from different walks of life on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir in Tehran.
Iranians celebrate the event that marks the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) announcement that Imam Ali (PBUH) is his successor.
Ayatollah Khamenei called for the promotion of Imam Ali’s (PBUH) lifestyle as a perfect role model.
“Whoever takes bribe, embezzles public funds or turns a blind eye to the evil committed by others and does not feel responsible for the society’s prosperity, is … a disgrace to Shias,” he said.
“A tactic that is being used by the enemy is taking advantage of weaknesses in the society to hurt us. These weaknesses should be remedied.”
