Exports from Anzali Free Zone in the northern province of Gilan have surged from $2 million in 2013 to $40 million in the 11 months ending Feb. 19, according to Reza Masrouri, CEO of the zone.
During the 11 months, $689 million worth of goods were imported through the port, with the figure indicating a 38% decrease compared with last year's corresponding period, ISNA reported.
Anzali is the largest harbor on the southern coasts of the Caspian Sea, with a capacity of handling the transit of 7 million tons of goods via its 10 docks. It is also the third largest seaport in Iran after Imam Khomeini and Shahid Rajaei ports situated on the Persian Gulf coastline.
