After two years of research, Iran’s first boehmite production line will be launched in Azarshahr County in East Azarbajan Province today, Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported on its website. Boehmite powder, which is the primary material used for production of chemical catalysts is widely used in various industries due to its high melting point and powerful moisture absorption. Domestic demand for this industrial material has so far been entirely met through imports. Research for its production was first conducted in 2014 by Iran Mineral Processing Research Center and the Oil Industry Research Institute.
