Iran-Turkey Train Services Resume

A passenger train resumed a weekly service on Tehran-Tabriz-Van Railroad at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, after it was suspended for nearly four years.
Mohammad Rajabi, the head of Raja Rail Transportation Company, attended the ceremony to launch the first trip. 
The train will take about 24 hours to arrive at Turkey’s eastern city of Van at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Fars News Agency quoted Rajabi as saying. 
Noting that tickets may be purchased via the 1539 hotline or through Raja’s website at www.raja.ir, the official added, Tehran-Van discount tickets will cost 2.25 million rials ($17) for adults and 1.3 million rials ($10) for children.
Located near the Iranian border, Van is a tourist attraction for its natural wonders and historic monuments. Over the years, it has become a top destination for Iranian tourists, especially during the Iranian national holidays. 
Train service between Iran and Turkey was suspended in 2015 due to security concerns about terrorist attacks on the route.
This service will be followed by another from Tehran to Ankara soon. 
According to Mir-Hassan Mousavi, the deputy head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, the Tehran-Ankara route will start services as of June 27.
