More than 1.59 million tons of commodities were transited through Iran’s 32 land and sea borders during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21-May 21) to register an 11% rise compared with the similar period of last year, the director general of Transits and International Affairs Bureau with Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization announced.
"Close to 1.05 million tons pertain to non-oil products, mainly auto spare parts, cotton, agricultural products and foodstuff," Reza Nafisi was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
The most active border crossing was Shahid Rajaee Port at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz in the southern Hormozgan Province with around 459,000 tons, accounting for 28.8% of all the transit volume.
