Golestan Gallery in northern Tehran will host ‘Applied Arts Exhibition by 20 Famous Artists’ next week.

The gallery owner and director Lili Golestan has curated the exhibit. “Applied arts are as old as art itself; many forms of art had a functional approach at the beginning; today such works can introduce contemporary artists to the public better, and deepen people’s understanding of different artistic style,” she said.

The exhibit will present beautiful artworks created by “every artist’s own point of view and style which I am certain will delight the visitors,” Golestan said, Honaronline reported.

Applied arts are the application of design and decoration to everyday objects to make them aesthetically pleasing. The term should be distinguished from fine arts which aim to produce objects that are beautiful and/or provide intellectual stimulation. In practice, the two often overlap.

The fields of industrial, graphic, fashion and interior designs, and the decorative arts are considered applied arts. In a creative and/or abstract context, the fields of architecture and photography are also considered applied arts.

The event will showcase artworks by Bahram Dabiri, Gizella Varga Sinai, Ebrahim Haqiqi, Maryam Zandi, Helia Ebrahimi, Mitra Davaei, Naeimeh Rezqi, Shokoufeh Rokham, Leila Farzaneh, Golnaz Qadiri and Sogand Mirzaei among others.

The artworks will be on a week-long display from December 16-21 between 4 and 8 pm daily. Enthusiasts can visit the exhibit at the gallery at No. 34, Shahid Kamasai Ave., Darrous neighborhood.
