A total of 137 luxury cars, which have been refused entry into Iran, will be repatriated, an official at Iran’s Confiscated Assets Organization said on September 4. Amin Daliri added that the repatriation of 28 Porsches with engines larger than 2500 cc (2.5 liters) has been finalized, ISNA reported. He added that the owners responsible for exporting the vehicles will incur the cost of taking the vehicles back to other countries. Other cars to be reexported include Mercedes Benz, BMW, Hummer and Ford. “The issue is not about illegal imports; these cars have not been legally claimed or do not meet the needed standard in Iran,” he said. Daliri noted that none of these cars is qualified to receive license plates inside Iran, as they have engines larger than 2.5 liters. Commenting on Chevrolet cars, he said the ban is still in place for Chevrolets and if such cars make their way to Iran’s customs, they will be rejected.
