A Russian translation of an epic and folklore book series ‘Tales of Karbala’, written by Mehdi Qezeli has been published in Russia.
The 10-volume series is translated by Russian Maria Yuryevna Emami. She has earlier worked on a Persian book on the life of Hazrat Zainab (SA), the sister of Imam Hussein (AS), titled ‘Season of Patience’.
The book, which is the fourth volume of the series, was displayed at the 28th Moscow International Book Fair in September, Mehr News Agency reported.
The battle of Karbala took place on October 10, 680 AD in Karbala, in present-day Iraq. There Imam Hussain (AS), Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson, and a small group of his family and companions were massacred by a large military detachment from the forces of Yazid.
Emami has also translated other Persian books namely ‘Another Hurricane is Coming,’ by Seyed Mehdi Shojaei and ‘Daughters of Another Path’ by Carol L. Anway, which tells the experience of American women who converted to Islam.
The year 2015 is earmarked as Year of Literature in Russia.
Iranian cultural activists have an active presence in the country to represent and introduce the rich Iranian culture to the Russian society through various programs.
Unveiling Russian translation of books by Iranian authors and their presence at signature ceremonies are among the programs, the news agency said.
