Australia Jobless Rate Rises

South Australia’s unemployment rate has risen to 8.2%—the worst in the nation—with a 0.65 jump from May’s jobless data, ABC reported. They were South Australia’s worst jobless figures for about 15 years. Nationally, unemployment remained relatively steady at 6%, with almost 25,000 full-time jobs added. South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill said the state’s growing unemployment rate was “deeply disturbing”. But he warned the worst is yet to come with the impending closure of Holden and uncertainty surrounding the state’s future in the shipbuilding industry.
