Kenya’s imports expanded by more than a tenth to nearly Sh1 trillion ($10.9b) in 2014, trade data show, widening the trade deficit as exports rose at a slower pace, AllAfrica reported. The country imported goods worth Sh1.52 trillion in the year compared to Sh1,36 trillion in 2013, a 11.8% increase. Kenya’s National Bureau of Statistics data showed exports grew by 6.5% to Sh537.23b, including re-exports.
