Iran will not stamp the passports of Omani businesspeople and tourists, Iran-Oman Chamber of Commerce announced in a press release on its website on Monday. The measure mainly aims to ensure possible travelers to Iran will not be barred from entering the United States. In March 2017, US President Donald Trump issued an order which restricts travel to the US for those who have visited Iran, along with Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, since March 1, 2011. Earlier in August, Iran tourism authorities said they were working with police authorities and the Foreign Ministry to eliminate visa stamps and stickers for foreign travelers to Iran so as to help diminish the impact of Trump's decision on the country's tourism industry.  Considering the current conditions, the Chamber hopes that the two countries' officials will agree to remove visa requirements. More than 20,000 Omanis traveled to Iran during the last fiscal year (March 2017-18), 50% lower than the number of visitors during the previous year.
