Malaysian airline AirAsia has suspended flights to three destinations in Thailand, Philippines and Iran.

Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Tehran will be suspended effective April 23. The last flight to the destination will depart on April 20.

Flights from the Malaysian capital to Kalibo in the Philippines and Surat Thani in Thailand will be suspended as of March 26 and end of February respectively, Rojakdaily.com reported.

The last flights to the two South Asian cities are scheduled for March 24 and Feb 25.

Travelers have already received notification regarding the suspension from the low-cost airline and were give three options: to reschedule their flights to an earlier date, convert their flight ticket to store credit for future travel with the airline within 180 calendar days or receive a full refund.

No reason or formal statement has been issued by AirAsia so far following the suspension announcement.

It comes with great surprise that AirAsia will be suspending these routes considering some routes were introduced just over a year ago.

The Kuala Lumpur–Tehran route was introduced in May 2016.

Some people have been speculating that load factor may contribute to the suspension while others think that AirAsia is planning to launch new routes.
