The Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism has expressed willingness to cooperate with the Cultural Institute of the Economic Cooperation Organization. During a meeting between Parisa Firouzkouhi, the head of publications and research at ECO Cultural Institute, and Jalil Golshan, the deputy head of RICHT, it was decided that RICHT will provide half of the funds required for the collaborative cultural schemes that are in line with the goals of the Sixth Five-year Economic Development Plan (2017-22).

RICHT also expressed interest in conducting joint research projects in various fields of cultural heritage, including archeology and anthropology in Iran and the region, CHTN reported.

The ECO Cultural Institute pledged to consider RICHT's propositions and communicate the results within a month.

Economic Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey for the purpose of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states. In 1992, ECO was expanded to include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The ECO Cultural Institute, a subsidiary of the organization, was formed in 1995 following the signing of its charter at the Third ECO Summit Meeting at Islamabad and Tehran was selected as its headquarters. RICHT first worked jointly with ECO Cultural Institute last year in holding a workshop on green museum (that incorporates concepts of sustainability into its operations) and seeks to expand collaboration.
