Archeologists to Get Together in Tehran

The International Congress of Young Archeologists is to be held on Oct. 29-31 at Tehran University, the scientific secretary of the event announced. "The three-day conference is an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities concerning the development of the field," added. "Organized by the Institute of Archeology at TU, the event is to bring together university students, experts and researchers from all over the world to share the latest achievements in the field," Donya-e-Safar also quoted Morteza Khanipour as saying. Researchers from 17 countries and representatives of 20 universities are expected to attend the conference. Archeology and sustainable development, archeology and teaching, recent discoveries in Iran and technical approaches to understanding the past are placed on the confab's agenda. Various workshops, book, photo and ancient craft exhibitions and specialized meetings have been lined up on the sidelines. The International Archeology Day is observed by many countries annually on Oct. 21. Iran is holding events on the occasion with a week's delay, as the date coincides with the working season of Iranian archeologists.
