Midfielder Ehsan Hajsafi has left Greek champion Olympiacos and signed a three-year contract with Tractor Sazi Tabriz of Iran.

The third captain of Team Melli joined Olympiacos on 29 December 2017, after playing for six months for another Greek club Panionios.

On February 11, he made his debut with the club in Super League against Atromitos, scoring a late goal to seal a point for Olympiacos as the game ended 2-2. Until mid-summer he made seven performances in the domestic competitions.

Hajsafi, 28, who can play either as a left-back or in midfield, is the latest major purchase of Tractor Sazi this year, Varzesh3.com reported.

To form a strong team in the current Persian Gulf Pro League, the Tabriz-based club, managed by Welsh coach John Toshack has attracted other Team Melli captains Masoud Shojaei and Ashkan Dejagah as well as Harry Forrester from the UK, Irish Anthony Stokes and the Japanese attacking midfielder Yukiya Sugita.

Hajsafi has appeared in Team Melli’s jersey in 97 matches and scored 6 goals. He represented Iran at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups as well as 2011 and the 2015 AFC Asian Cup tournaments.

From June 2011 to January 2012, Hajsafi played for Tractor Sazi which finished second in the league, the best result of the club in the history of Iran top league.

Tractor Sazi is currently sixth in the league with nine points from six matches.
