In the heat of transfer round, La Liga and UCL champion Barcelona hires Brazilian Arthur and gives another Brazilian Paulinho back to his former club Guangzhou Evergrande of China.

Barcelona has confirmed the arrival of Brazilian new recruit Arthur from Brazilian outfit Gremio on a $37 million deal, AFP reported.

The Spanish champion will pay an extra $10.5 million in bonuses in the six-year deal struck with the Brazilian club for the midfielder whose full name is Arthur Henrique Ramos de Oliveira Melo.

A release clause has been set at $470 million, the Catalan giant said on Monday on its website. Barca had inked a pre-accord for the 21-year-old in March.

Arthur was a star with Gremio as it lifted the Copa Libertadores; he was named man of the match in the final win over Argentina’s Lanus.

At the Nou Camp he will notably link up with compatriot Philippe Coutinho.

 Paulinho Back to China

Brazil midfielder Paulinho is leaving Barcelona after one season to rejoin Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande, the Spanish champion said on Sunday, Eurosport.com wrote.

“FC Barcelona and Guangzhou Evergrande have reached an agreement for the loan transfer of Paulinho Bezerra for one season, with a mandatory purchase option for the Chinese club,” Barca said in a statement on its website.

Paulinho, 29, scored nine goals in 49 appearances for the Catalans after signing for $47 million last August, helping the side win the La Liga and King’s Cup double.

He was part of Brazil’s World Cup squad, scoring in the 2-0 group-stage win over Serbia. It is reported that this transfer back to China could be worth $117 million.
