Croatian football coach Branko Ivankovic has extended his contract with the Persepolis club for two years.

Ivankovic finalized his agreement with the club on Wednesday in a meeting with the club manager Hamid-Reza Garshasbi, IRNA reported.

“I just signed a new contract with Persepolis.” Ivankovic said on his Instagram account. “I want to thank Mr. Garshasbi and the management of the club for their trust and I’m looking forward to working together to make the club better every day.”

Ivankovic, 63, joined the club in 2015. He took the club to its pinnacle  in the Persian Gulf Pro League in 2016-17 season. In the current season the club came out first in the mid-season and holds the top spot with nine points higher than the second team.

The Croatian was also Iran national team’s head coach between 2002 and 2006. It was under his watch that Team Melli went to the 2006  World Cup in Germany.
