Deputy Head of the Football Federation of Iran Ali Kafashian says if approved by the Asian Football Confederation, Ardabil city can host the AFC futsal championships.
Kafashian made the remark during a visit to Rezazadeh Stadium which is an all-seater indoor arena in Ardabil, northwest Iran, Mehr News Agency reported.
“The stadium is capable of hosting AFC futsal games as well as other international futsal events,” he said.
He said he would submit a request to the AFC for holding its championships and the World Cup qualifiers in Ardabil.
Kafashian recalled that Ardabil is a tourist area and has quality hotels and accommodation centers needed for sporting teams.
