There may still be months left of the season, a lot more games to be played, points to be won and lost, surprises, battles and contributing factors, but at Christmas it looks as though Europe’s biggest leagues are already decided.

In England, Spain, Germany and France, four teams have far surpassed the competition and boast substantial leads on their rivals. Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have shined and reaped the rewards of their hard work to leave them at the top, Marca Reported.

El Clasico gave Barcelona another three points, taking them to 45 points from 17 games, with a nine point lead over the second team, Atletico Madrid after they fell to defeat against Espanyol on Friday.

The distance is the same for PSG in France with 19 games played; team has notched up 50 points to date whilst Monaco and Lyon are level on 41 points each.

In Germany, the difference is even greater, with Bayern totaling 41 points and an impressive 11 point lead over Schalke 04 in second, having recovered under Jupp Heynckes management.

The next four teams in Germany are all level at a further two points behind Schalke, with Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach sitting on 28 points.

If there is one team that already has one hand on the trophy, it is Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s team join Barcelona as the only two sides to remain unbeaten at the mid-way point and the Citizens have only drawn one game against Everton in August.

That means that they are comfortably atop with 55 points, 13 ahead of their biggest rivals, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, 13 points behind. Top of the league and comfortable is how all four side have reached Christmas, they have no time to waste if they are to mount a challenge.
