Majid Farzin, Iranian para power lifter took the second gold medal for Iran at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico City, December 2-8.

Farzin lifted the 227kg weight in a first attempt to win the gold of up-to-80kg in the men’s category. In his second and third attempts he failed to handle 231kg and 235kg weights but his first attempt was enough to achieve the first place, Varzesh3.com reported.

Nader Moradi and Rohollah Rostami won the gold and silver medals of up-to-72kg category respectively. Moradi lifted 209kg and Rostami hit at the 208kg weight.

Competing in the 59kg category, Amir Jafari-Arangeh won the silver medal with 187kg and Yousef Yousefi claimed bronze after lifting 182kg on December 4.

Winning two gold, two silver and one bronze, Iran currently holds the second place in the games.

The competition was rescheduled from October following the devastating earthquake that hit Mexico City on September 19.

An estimated 1,200 athletes, officials and staff from 89 countries are at the event.
