World Wrestling Clubs Cup is an international wrestling clubs competition among teams representing member nations of the sport’s global governing body, the United World Wrestling.

Iran hosted the freestyle and Greco-Roman World Clubs Cup in 2014 and 2015. Juybar, in Mazandaran Province, and Tehran cities were host to freestyle competition in the two years respectively. Bimeh Razi (Razi Insurance company) team won the title in both years.

Greco-Roman competitions were held in Abadan in 2014 and Khoramshahr in 2015 (both cities in the southern oil province of Khuzestan) with Pastor Andimeshk Club and Bimeh Razi team in first place.

Bimeh Razi from Tehran, Easy Pipe from Kashan and Stars from Sari are three Iranian clubs at the fourth edition of the Clubs Cup.

  Top Wrestlers

Famous wrestlers from Iran and around the world will compete in Tehran. Komeil Qassemi, the silver medalist in the 2016 Rio Olympics and bronze winner in the 2012 London Olympics of 120 kg category will meet his rivals in the tournament.

World and Olympics champion in the 97 kg division Kyle Snyder from Titan Mercury Wrestling Club (TMWC) of the US, and Russian Aniuar Geduev, the 2016 Rio silver medalist, from Bimeh Razi, are among other notable participants.

The TMWC has referred to the event as “what is poised to be the best World Clubs Cup ever”, comparing different wrestlers of the participating clubs. The American team won the title in the previous edition of the games in freestyle division in Ukraine in 2016.

The 2016 Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev in the 97kg is another figure from Bimeh Razi at the tournament. The freestyler has so far won 10 gold medals in European and international championships.

Regarding the same weight class Snyder and Sadulaev are set to compete in, it is probable for the pair to repeat what is called the “clash of the century”. After winning several international trophies, Sadulaev fixated his name as world No. 1 until he lost the match to Snyder in the 2017 World Championships in France.
