Judoka Mollaei Wins Bronze in Abu Dhabi Grand Slam

Saeed Mollaei won the bronze medal in the -81 kg category at Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Slam, October 26-29. He beat  Nyamsürengiin Dagvasüren of Mongolia in classification matches.

After resting for one round, Mollaei knocked down his Portuguese rival but in his next match  faced Zebeda Rekhviashvili, bronze winner of the 2013 European Judo Championships from Georgia. Losing the match, Mollaei had to continue for bronze.

After defeating his Canadian rival, the Iranian judoka beat Dagvasüren, the Mongolian gold winner of 2016 Asian Judo Championships to get bronze, Varzesh 3 reported.

Other members of the Iranian squad were not as lucky as Mollaei and dropped out of the competition without any medals. A total of 276 judokas from 47 countries attended the games.
