Iran Wrestling Federation has introduced the southwestern city of Ahvaz to the United World Wrestling (UWW) for hosting the next Greco-Roman World Cup in April 2018.
The UWW had already chosen Iran as the host of the event and its representative will arrive soon to inspect facilities in Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan Province, IRNA reported.
Iran, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Germany, Armenia, Hungary and Kazakhstan will attend the international tournament.
Iranian cities of Tehran, Shiraz and Abadan have already hosted world Greco-Roman World Cup for seven years in 1997, 2005, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The Iranian Greco-Roman team has clinched the championship title in the world contests five times in Armenia 2010, Belarus 2011, Russia 2012, Iran 2014 (in Tehran) and Iran 2016 (in Shiraz).
The Iranian team came in second twice in 2004 in Tbilisi and in Tehran 2013.
