Iranian football club Esteghlal has reportedly reached an agreement with Spanish soccer coach Carlos Aitor Garcia Sanz.
Garcia Sanz, who has worked as an assistant with Winfried Schäfer for the Jamaica national team, will travel to Tehran next week, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Local media had reported that Esteghlal reached an agreement with its former striker Farhad Majidi as Schäfer’s assistant, but the club dismissed the rumors.
Garcia Sanz holds a master’s degree in high performance and sports psychology and has more than 10 years of coaching experience.
The 67-year-old German manager Schäfer signed a one-year contract with Esteghlal last week and will coach the club throughout the remaining games of the current season of Iran Pro League.
