Iran Has 3 Nominees for Best in Beach Soccer

Two Iranian beach soccer players and one coach have been nominated for the best of the year awards in the field.

Iran national team captain Mohammad Ahmadzadeh and goalkeeper Seyed Peyman Hosseini Largani are among the 50 nominees for the Best Player of the Year award and the team’s former coach Mohammad Hossein Mirshamsi is a candidate for the Best Coach of the Year award along with 11 others.

According to Beachsoccer.com, the final list has been jointly prepared by Beach Soccer Worldwide and the Technical Study Group from this year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in The Bahamas.

Both the Best Player of the Year and Best Coach of the Year awards will be handed out at the Beach Soccer Stars Night in Dubai November 4, based on votes by coaches and captains of all national teams.

This voting will also be used to decide the Best Goalkeeper of the Year and the Best 5 Stars.

Iran is the best ranked beach soccer team in Asia and second in the world. Iran has won the AFC Beach Soccer Championship a record two times (2013, 2017) and has been placed in the top four in every edition. The country has also appeared in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup seven times, reaching the quarterfinals on three occasions (2013, 2015, 2017), and finishing third in this year’s round, April 27-May 7.

  Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup

The draw for the seventh edition of the Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup took place in Dubai, October 3, and eight teams were placed in two groups ahead of the event’s kick-off on October 31.

In this year’s competition, which runs until November 4, Iran is drawn in Group B with Russia, Mexico and Paraguay.

The host UAE is grouped with Egypt, Portugal and defending champions Brazil in Group A.

Iran was the champion of the Intercontinental Cup in 2013 and a year later the national team finished fourth. In the 2015 edition, Iran soccer beach stood on the third place and last year it was runner-up.
