Iranian freestyle wrestlers snatched two gold medals and two bronze medals in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), underway in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
In the first match Iran’s Iman Sadeqi in the category of 61 kg defeated his Indian rival 4-2. Due to Tajik wrestler’s absence in the second stage, Sadeqi won the game and advanced to semi-final match, IRNA reported Tuesday.
He beat Kazakhstan 7-2 and entered the final match where he defeated Turkmenistan and grabbed a gold medal.
In the 86 kg category, Ezatollah Akbari gained victory over Chinese athlete 13-3. He also overpowered a Pakistani fighter 6-2.
After winning in the semi-final, Akbari downed Uzbekistan 9-2 in the final match and bagged his fourth gold.
Saeed Dadashpour in the 70 kg category nailed Tajik wrestler 10-0 but was overpowered by the Russian and later defeated Samoa representative 10-0 and advanced to the qualifiers stage where he brought down an Afghan wrestler 10-0 to take a bronze medal.
Also Yadollah Mohebbi overpowered his Kazakh rival in the qualifiers stage and took bronze.

  Bronze for Women Futsal
Iran’s women futsal team pulled out a sweeping win over their Chinese rivals to land in  third place at the games.
In a third-place encounter on Monday, female futsal players from Iran defeated China 5-1 to occupy third place, Mehr News Agency reported.
Fereshteh Karimi’s brace and Sarah Shirbeigi’s hat-trick gave the Persian side a 5-0 lead and  the East Asian opponents only managed to score one goal throughout the stunning match.
Thailand and Japan are slated to meet in the final showdown of the futsal event.
Iran’s female squad had finished vice-champion in the previous edition of the tournament in South Korea.
The Iranian squad, comprising 214 sportswomen and sportsmen, are attending the games in the Turkmen capital with teams from 49 Asian countries and 24 from the Pacific region.
  Gold in Kickboxing
Two kickboxing fighters Omid Ahmadisafa in the Men’s Low Kick -51 kg and Mostafa Pourfaraj in the Men’s Point Fighting -69 kg won two gold medals, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Iranian sportsmen and women have managed to lift the country’s medal count to 107 at the 5th AIMAG.
The 2017 edition of the games opened in Ashgabat on September 17 and will end September 27.
Turkmenistan is on the top of the medal count table with 241 medals (88 gold, 69 silvers and 84 bronzes).
China is second with 90 medals (39 gold, 28 silvers, 23 bronzes), Kazakhstan is third with 90 medals (28 gold, 28 silvers and 34 bronzes) and Iran fourth with 107 medals (28 gold, 20 silvers and 59 bronzes).
The Iranian squad has participated in twenty fields namely, futsal, table tennis, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Sambo, Kurash, Jujutsu, bowling, billiards, cycling, track-and-field, swimming, weightlifting, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, Pahlavani wrestling, Alysh, basketball, taekwondo, horse-riding and chess.
More than 6,000 athletes and team officials are representing 65 countries in the games.
