Iran’s women’s alpine skiing team has left for Austria to take part in a ski training program at the Hintertux campsite.

The squad, led by Samira Zargari, left Tehran at the weekend for the Hintertux Glacier for a one-month training, Mehr News Agency reported.

In addition to intense skiing sessions, the athletes are also slated to attend bodybuilding classes.

Presently, besides Iranian skiers, national athletes from 50 world countries are at the Austrian campsite.

Hintertux Glacier is a tourist name for the glaciers of the Gefrorene-Wand-Kees, also called the Tuxer Ferner, and the Riepenkees at the top of the Tuxertal, a side valley of the Zillertal in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

Both glaciers are accessed by gondola and chair lifts. Hintertux Glacier is one of only two ski resorts in the world offering skiing 365 days a year, the other being Zermatt in Switzerland. At its highest point the ski region reaches a height of 3,250 meters in the saddle between the peaks of the Gefrorene-Wand-Spitzen.
