Iran and Singapore are seeking to forge stronger ties in the field of technology to prepare the ground for promoting emerging startups and knowledge-based companies, and pushing them towards the global market.
Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari met a Singaporean delegation on Wednesday and discussed ways of strengthening technological ties, the website for the vice presidential office reported.
Paving the way for fledgling startups and tech firms to grow and commercialize their technological products, while helping them forge ties with their foreign counterparts, was among the main issues discussed at the meeting.
The two sides also discussed ways of getting help from the tech firms and startups to boost the two countries’ digital economy.
Sattari said Iran is more than ready to start cooperation with Singapore in promoting technological firms and launching joint research projects in the field.
"The traditional mode of economy cannot withstand the startup ecosystem expanding in countries like Iran. If supported properly, the talented tech teams can devise efficient and modern solutions and help curb national economies’ reliance on natural resources," he said.
The Singaporean representatives also said the business environment created in Iran with the help of the Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology is considerably valuable. Concerning the challenges of Singapore in the field of human resources and cooperation with the surrounding countries, both parties can cooperate with each other to find a common solution.
Giving support to fledgling startups and knowledge-based companies has been one of the priorities of the government since President Hassan Rouhani started his first tenure in 2013.
