China-Iran Innovation Center was inaugurated on Wednesday in Chabahar Free Zone in southern Sistan-Baluchestan Province.
An agreement was signed between the new center, International University of Chabahar plus Chabahar Free Zone Organization that calls for backing SMEs and startups in Iran and help connect them to China's commercial and industrial firms, IRNA reported.
Director of Chabahar Free Zone Organization Abdolrahim Kordi referred to the zone’s role in Iran’s international trade. “Chabahar Port is exempt from the new US sanctions. With support from other nations, specifically China, Chabahar can contribute significantly to Iran’s technologic growth,” he said.
Representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology attended the inauguration ceremony.
