Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Tlapa has called for increased consultations with Iran to help pave the way for expansion of bilateral ties.

“The Czech Republic wants to hold talks and consultations with the Islamic Republic of Iran to help enhance relations in various areas and contribute to political processes in the region,” the Czech official said in a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran on Sunday.

He said Iran is an important and influential country in the region which can play a key role to help boost security in the region.

“Despite the threats surrounding it, the Islamic Republic of Iran is a stable country in the heart of the Middle East and enjoys enormous potential,” Tlapa said.

In addition, he expressed concern over the growth of extremism and terrorism in the region and said increased international cooperation and collective measures are required to tackle the issues.
