‘Rainbow Farm,’ a solo exhibition by painter Qasem Mohammadi is underway at e1 Art Gallery in Tehran.

Running through December 15, the painting event features a series of acrylic-on-canvas works showing urban landscapes, Mediterranean forests and giant flowers.

Urban environments make up the recurrent theme of the exhibit; but the paintings give a rather unrealistic and dreamlike impression, Honaronline reported.

In the paintings, Mediterranean woodlands and huge flowers in vivid colors exude liveliness. The natural elements of the works are in glorious colors and sizes. Beside them are humans and their productions such as buildings and vehicles which are rendered relatively small and less significant.

Mohammadi, 40, has been working on the paintings for the past five years. “Some of the paintings have undergone considerable changes, reworked several times,” he said.

The present series of his paintings can be considered as works of magical realism (an art genre expressing a primarily realistic view of the real world while also adding or revealing magical elements).

Visitors will see real and palpable subjects, but the proximity of the painted elements is strange and mysterious, as if remembered from a lucid dream.

The gallery is located at No. 1, Hamid Alley, Lesani Street, Elahieh neighborhood.  The gallery’s share of proceeds will go to charity. Visiting hours are 4 to 8 pm. Saturdays are off.
