All Iranians over 15 years have been asked to apply for their smart national ID cards before the end of the calendar current year that ends in March 2018, Tasnim News Agency reported. As many as 12,000 centers across the country, including Pishkhan centers (state centers which offer services related to e-governance), civil registration bureaus and post offices, issue the smart ID cards, the spokesman for the National Organization for Civil Registration, Seifollah Abutorabi said. NOCR started issuing smart national ID cards in 2015 and replace the existing cards. The smart cards along with unique identification numbers and personal data include the individuals’ bio-metric data, a smart chip and a laser hologram.
