The Iranian Red Crescent Society will add 450 emergency vehicles, including ambulances and rescue vehicles, to its fleet in the near future, head of IRCS, Morteza Salimi, said at the weekend.

IRCS currently has 550 emergency stations near the main roads and highways, he said, adding that 250,000 people benefited from its services in the first five months of current Iranian year (started in March), IRNA reported.  It has 500 personnel trained in rapid emergency response systems and plans to increase the number to 3,500 this year, as part of a major program to beef up emergency services.
