Volunteers from Iran’s Red Crescent Society will offer gift packages as well as free medical checkups to students in underprivileged areas across the country; in preparation for the new academic year which begins on September 23.

The scheme will run from September 6-23 and includes basic school necessities such as stationery, school bags and uniforms, shoes, as well as some foodstuff to students and working children in deprived regions. Volunteer physicians, dentists, and paramedics will also examine the students free of charge, head of the IRCS volunteer organization, Reza Andaam said, IRNA reported. IRCS volunteers will identify the needy schools in villages, shantytowns and deprived areas and distribute the aid via the schools. Volunteers also provide educational support and counseling to students in need throughout the academic year.
