Every Iranian on average consumes between 45g and 57g of oil each day and improving edible oil standards can help improve people’s health, said Shahriar Mostofi, an official at Food and Drug Administration.  Last year (ended in March), all domestic edible oil manufactures were instructed to reduce trans fat in their products to below 2% from 5%, Salamat News reported.  “At present, the maximum amount of trans fat which can be used in all kinds of cooking oils is 2%,” he said, adding that the National Document in Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases plans to reduce trans fat in cooking oil and other food products to zero by 2025.
