Treatment for Homeless Addicts

A plan to round up homeless drug addicts and send them to rehabilitation centers will be implemented in the provinces of Tehran, Alborz, Sistan-Baluchestan, Gilan, Yazd, and Qazvin, Mohsen Roshan-Pajouh, deputy of addiction prevention and treatment at the State Welfare Organization, said on Monday.

The exact date was not disclosed, but the official said the plan would be implemented soon, IRNA reported. “SWO experts in rehab centers screen addicts and those with viral diseases receive necessary medical treatment,” he said. Social workers also help refer recovering addicts to non-governmental organizations which help them find suitable jobs.
